54 | Steal My Summer Business Strategy

I am in PLAY mode this summer and I'm intentionally using this season to make an impact and make more money in my business. Tune in to hear the 6 parts of my summer business strategy.

Transcript
Speaker:

I've coached nearly 100 women about their

screen time, and here's what I've learned.

2

:

Women actually don't care about their

screen time, they care about those things

3

:

that are impacted by their screen time.

4

:

Their ability to be patient with their

kids, the growth of their business,

5

:

having time to pursue their creative

dreams, their relationship with their

6

:

husband, the inner peace that they feel,

their confidence in themselves, their

7

:

Connection with God, their friendships

not missing out on their kids' childhoods.

8

:

I'm Alex and I'm here to

help you find inner peace.

9

:

Enjoy true fulfillment

and be fully present.

10

:

Welcome to the Mindful with Media Podcast.

11

:

I have been full on summer mode and.

12

:

This happens throughout the year,

but typically if you look at my

13

:

episodes during last summer and

this summer, I, I skipped more weeks

14

:

in the summer of my podcast, but I

realized that some of it has been this.

15

:

Like sneaky perfectionism

getting in the way that I.

16

:

I feel like I have to have like a

perfect podcast episode outlined.

17

:

And so.

18

:

Anyways, all that to say, I'm committing

again to releasing an episode every week.

19

:

So I'm back., and with

that, I wanted to focus on.

20

:

My.

21

:

Summer business strategy.

22

:

And so.

23

:

My business, you know, looks different.

24

:

Depending on my season of life, but

especially during this summer season.

25

:

The way that I run my business and the

things that I do looks really different.

26

:

And.

27

:

Because of my target audience

is moms and especially moms.

28

:

Who have their own business

and moms with kids at home.

29

:

And so.

30

:

I have a different

strategy for the summer.

31

:

And so.

32

:

I want to share more

of that strategy today.

33

:

And.

34

:

The reason that I, I thought about

sharing this is because, so I think it

35

:

was like end of April, beginning of may.

36

:

I had this idea for this program

and it just came to me so clearly

37

:

of what I wanted this program to be.

38

:

And this was a big program and

you might've even seen, I think on

39

:

Instagram, I was like, I was trying to

find the right logo for this program.

40

:

And so I was like getting

people's opinions on Instagram,

41

:

about what logo I should use.

42

:

And.

43

:

I was starting to kind of tease it

out to, to get ready to launch it.

44

:

But I just realized that.

45

:

Summer would not be.

46

:

A great time to launch this program.

47

:

And so I decided to.

48

:

Put that on hold and have a

new strategy for the summer.

49

:

And then I'm actually still planning

to launch that program and I've

50

:

already decided a name for it.

51

:

The name of it, the name of it is

the serenity and it's launching.

52

:

August 20th.

53

:

And so I'll talk about that more

later in the episode about that, but.

54

:

Although to say.

55

:

I'll share.

56

:

Six parts of my business

strategy this summer.

57

:

The first part of my summer strategy.

58

:

Is to provide tons of free

value and just free content.

59

:

And.

60

:

So I'm taking a lot of concepts

from my paid offers and turning

61

:

them into Instagram posts.

62

:

And.

63

:

I'm just focusing on more like

educational and nurturing content

64

:

with my Instagram and less about

like growth or attract content.

65

:

And also with my, my free

content that I'm providing.

66

:

Is.

67

:

I'm trying to make it super simple.

68

:

And I think this is a something that is

always effective, but I think especially

69

:

in the summer, like people kind of just

in play mode, they don't really want to.

70

:

Sit and read a super long caption

or learn really detailed things or.

71

:

They just, they're not ready for that.

72

:

We're all just in play mode.

73

:

We want just like, Quick tips or just

like funny things or entertaining things

74

:

or feel good things just, I would say

even, I think mostly people on Instagram

75

:

are scrolling pretty quickly, but I

would say it's even worse in the summer.

76

:

We're.

77

:

We're not ready for that.

78

:

That.

79

:

Complex content.

80

:

So I'm just trying to provide

really simple content.

81

:

And then also I'm just providing a lot

of free challenges, free programs, just.

82

:

Things that normally I might charge for

as offers, I'm just doing them for free.

83

:

So right now I'm running a

free seven day challenge.

84

:

To help people.

85

:

Practice only spending 30

minutes a day on Instagram.

86

:

And still posting every day, but

then getting off and actually being

87

:

present and living their life.

88

:

And so just learning to use

Instagram in moderation.

89

:

And then I'm going to be.

90

:

Doing some more free workshops

coming up, but I'm actually

91

:

going to be doing some more free.

92

:

One-on-one calls.

93

:

I'm just providing a lot of.

94

:

Free offers, I guess you could call them.

95

:

And it's, it's a really fun way to.

96

:

To feel like I'm serving my audience

and it kind of feels playful.

97

:

I don't know.

98

:

I always want my business to be playful,

but I'm trying to lean into that.

99

:

Playful mode and providing

tens of free offers feels.

100

:

feels.

101

:

summary and it's part of my

summer business strategy.

102

:

The second part of my strategy this

summer is to set myself up as an expert.

103

:

And you've probably seen, I mean

really the whole time, but especially

104

:

these last six months or so, I

really been trying to figure out.

105

:

Who I am and what I do with my business.

106

:

I switched to do.

107

:

Life coaching.

108

:

And then I switched to do

business coaching then.

109

:

So I'm just trying to kind of find

my sweet spot of who I love to

110

:

help and how I can best help them.

111

:

And so.

112

:

I've I've really figured out.

113

:

I love working with.

114

:

Female.

115

:

Business owners, especially

moms who have young kids.

116

:

And they really want

to make an impact and.

117

:

, just influence people for good

using Instagram specifically and who

118

:

who wants to help people in some way?

119

:

And

120

:

like their kids come first

and their family comes first.

121

:

And so they're trying

to find that balance.

122

:

I love helping.

123

:

Moms find a strategy.

124

:

Two.

125

:

Effectively, like actually

make money from their business.

126

:

That's something I hear a lot from

clients is like, They've been working

127

:

on this for so long and put so much

time and effort and energy into this.

128

:

But they weren't making money and,

and how to actually help them.

129

:

Make money.

130

:

And then also.

131

:

Doing that without.

132

:

Getting sucked into Instagram.

133

:

Like.

134

:

Spending minimal time on.

135

:

Instagram specifically, and also

on their phones so they can reel.

136

:

Plea not only like be with their kids and

really enjoy their kids, but also have

137

:

more time to do things for themselves.

138

:

Like.

139

:

Read or paint their nails or

bake or exercise I love helping.

140

:

Moms and business find that balance.

141

:

And also.

142

:

Actually make money and

actually have an impact.

143

:

Okay.

144

:

All that to say, I'm trying to set

myself up as an expert in that area.

145

:

And.

146

:

Now that I've kind of figured out.

147

:

Who I am and what I want to do.

148

:

The third part of my business strategy

this summer is to build relationships.

149

:

So I've been offering more.

150

:

Free one-on-one Voxer coaching, which

has been really fun to connect with

151

:

all of you on a more personal level.

152

:

In addition to my one-on-one

clients, I love talking with you

153

:

and building those relationships.

154

:

That's.

155

:

One of my very favorite parts of

my business is connecting with you.

156

:

And also just doing that through

Instagram, you know, Through following

157

:

new people or connecting with people

who follow me or things like that.

158

:

And then also as part of building.

159

:

Building relationships.

160

:

I went to the abundance workshop.

161

:

That Amber Smith put on

hearing Utah and it was.

162

:

So fun.

163

:

It was such a.

164

:

Just a happy experience to be around.

165

:

Other people who have very similar

interests and passions to me.

166

:

And that was a really fun way

to build relationships in a way

167

:

that's connected to my business.

168

:

Okay.

169

:

The fourth theme.

170

:

That is part of my business strategy

this summer as to really prep for that

171

:

program that I'm launching in August.

172

:

So it's called the serenity and.

173

:

I'm announcing details

on Monday, July 15th.

174

:

So.

175

:

Stay stay tuned on Instagram to find

out more details about that, but

176

:

I'm really just trying to like flush

out all the details for that of.

177

:

Who it's for and.

178

:

What.

179

:

What, what the experience will be.

180

:

I really want this to be

a really powerful program.

181

:

That's safe and.

182

:

Connecting.

183

:

Okay.

184

:

I'm I.

185

:

I wasn't going to do this,

but I'm going to share some

186

:

like insider details on here.

187

:

So.

188

:

The serenity is a hybrid program.

189

:

For.

190

:

Moms who have their own business.

191

:

And.

192

:

Want to make an impact

and want to make money.

193

:

And.

194

:

Again, I'll share more details

later, but basically it'll be.

195

:

One live workshop a month.

196

:

One one-on-one call with me a month.

197

:

And then.

198

:

One.

199

:

Training on.

200

:

Specific topics.

201

:

That you can listen to via audio.

202

:

So it'll be set up through a

private podcast so that you can

203

:

just listen to it on the go.

204

:

Anyway.

205

:

So I'm just really fleshing out the

details for that program for the serenity.

206

:

And, and it's actually interesting kind

of, as I say this as like my business

207

:

strategy, because so typically in a

school year, I work four hours a week.

208

:

And then in the summer,

my babysitter she's 13.

209

:

I think she just turned 14 actually.

210

:

So she doesn't have school in the summer.

211

:

And so she's available to work more.

212

:

And so she works six hours in the week.

213

:

So I actually have more time in

the summer to work on my business.

214

:

And so now this is what I'm doing,

like all my prep, so that in the school

215

:

year, when I have less work time, I can.

216

:

Be already in those areas.

217

:

Okay.

218

:

The fifth part of my strategy, my

business strategy this summer is.

219

:

To create quick content.

220

:

And so kind of, like I said

earlier, like, People on Instagram,

221

:

they just want simple content.

222

:

And it's easier for me to create really

simple content and not like write a huge

223

:

essay or make this like really complex

video montage, like just quick content.

224

:

It's better for my people.

225

:

It's better for me.

226

:

And then also when I create

content more quickly, then I'm

227

:

able to find out what's resonating.

228

:

What's not resonating.

229

:

Like what's working, what's not working.

230

:

Faster.

231

:

I can get.

232

:

Faster results.

233

:

Like more data quicker.

234

:

And with this, In the summer, typically

engagement drops on Instagram anyways.

235

:

And so I don't want to spend a million

years on these really like complex posts.

236

:

If people aren't going to be seeing

them, if they're just going to

237

:

be glancing at them while they're

on their family trip or whatever.

238

:

And so.

239

:

That's something else.

240

:

Is I just, yeah, I don't want to spend

a lot of time on creating content.

241

:

And with this, keep your eyes peeled

because I'm going to be running a.

242

:

Workshop on how to create quality

content and less than 10 minutes.

243

:

So.

244

:

I'll be teaching you how to do this.

245

:

And that's what I'm also kind of

practicing myself, like, okay,

246

:

what's my formula for creating

effective content really fast.

247

:

My sixth.

248

:

Strategy.

249

:

For my business this summer is to

play a lot and put my phone away.

250

:

And so I know I say this all the

time, but we're doing the:

251

:

hours outside challenge this year.

252

:

And.

253

:

Based on like where I live, you're

supposed to spend five hours

254

:

a day outside in the summer.

255

:

And so.

256

:

In like the evenings I used to.

257

:

Work on my.

258

:

Business after my kids would go to bed.

259

:

But instead I've been having my kids

stay up later to like nine and we just

260

:

play together outside in the evenings

instead of trying to get stuff done.

261

:

And that's been really

fun to just hang out with.

262

:

Our neighbors and.

263

:

Sometimes we'll do like random

little adventures in the evening

264

:

and that's, that's been really fun.

265

:

Obviously we do things all day, too.

266

:

We go hiking and go to lakes and

go to splash pads and go swimming.

267

:

And.

268

:

Like I said, just sit in my camp,

chair outside while my kids play.

269

:

And I've been doing a lot more

running this summer in the mornings

270

:

when our babysitter comes and I've

been getting into trail running

271

:

again, that's been really fun.

272

:

So.

273

:

I've just been, yeah.

274

:

Intentionally playing a lot more.

275

:

And putting my phone away and

setting aside my, my chores to do

276

:

and just playing, because I really

do believe that when we get true

277

:

rest, like true, true, true rest.

278

:

And not just like rest, like sleeping, but

like that's rejuvenating for your soul.

279

:

Then.

280

:

Your business does better and you

as a person are happier and your

281

:

family's happier and it's, it's

just, it's just good for everyone.

282

:

Sometimes it's easy to be like,

well, like maybe I should start

283

:

trying to, like, do housework in

the evenings or work on my business.

284

:

Like put my kids to bed earlier.

285

:

Mark my business or whatever,

but I'm like, no, like.

286

:

Summer is not all year.

287

:

Summer is just one season.

288

:

And I want to take advantage of this,

this time when it's light outside, too.

289

:

To go play into, go be with my kids.

290

:

So just as a recap, my

business strategy this summer.

291

:

One provide tons of free

value and free content.

292

:

I'm not offering anything

paid this summer.

293

:

I'm just relying on my,

my one-on-one clients.

294

:

I already have for income, not trying to.

295

:

Offer anything new?

296

:

Number two, set myself up as an expert,

as I have really niched down to.

297

:

Helping moms in business.

298

:

Make money and have an impact without

getting sucked into social media.

299

:

Number three.

300

:

I've been working on

building relationships.

301

:

And then number four, I'm

prepping to launch the serenity.

302

:

Which is the hybrid hybrid probate.

303

:

A hybrid program that is

launching August 20th.

304

:

Number five.

305

:

I've been focusing on creating quick

content and mastering that skill.

306

:

And then number six, I've been spending

lots of time playing with my phone away.

307

:

So with that, I hope

you have a happy summer.

308

:

And like I said, I've been offering

lots of free one-on-one coaching.

309

:

Something that I am

offering right now for free.

310

:

Is.

311

:

I'll help you come up with.

312

:

313

:

314
