59 | 3 Things You Should Do When You're Planning Your Work Week

I'm a nerd about planning. But it has taken me a while to figure out how to effectively plan my work week (because when you have 2 young kids and there are so many unpredictable things about your business it can be hard to plan!)

In this episode I share:

  • how to choose how many hours a work to week
  • how to choose when to work
  • designing your ideal work week
  • planning each individual week

Speaker:

I've coached nearly 100 women about their screen time,

2

:

and here's what I've learned.

3

:

Women actually don't care about their

screen time, they care about those things

4

:

that are impacted by their screen time.

5

:

Their ability to be patient with their

kids, the growth of their business,

6

:

having time to pursue their creative

dreams, their relationship with their

7

:

husband, the inner peace that they feel,

their confidence in themselves, their

8

:

Connection with God, their friendships

not missing out on their kids' childhoods.

9

:

I'm Alex and I'm here to

help you find inner peace.

10

:

Enjoy true fulfillment

and be fully present.

11

:

Welcome to the Mindful with Media Podcast.

12

:

Hi friends.

13

:

Last week.

14

:

I did an episode all about how I like

to plan out my ideal weekly schedule.

15

:

As fall is coming up.

16

:

And so this week I want to focus on

how I plan out my ideal work schedule.

17

:

And.

18

:

I'm kind of, kind of touch

on three parts to this.

19

:

So one.

20

:

Deciding when you want to work.

21

:

To deciding.

22

:

Your ideal week.

23

:

So.

24

:

When you do which tasks every week.

25

:

And then third, I'm

also going to touch on.

26

:

Like week by week planning.

27

:

So like at the beginning of each

week, how to plan what you're

28

:

going to specifically do that week.

29

:

We'll see if this all

fits in this episode.

30

:

If it ends up being too

much, I may break it up.

31

:

But.

32

:

Let's start with figuring out.

33

:

How to decide.

34

:

How many hours a week do you want to work?

35

:

And when to plan out your work times,

36

:

I briefly touched on this last

week . So if you haven't already make

37

:

sure to go listen to that episode,

but kind of some more specifically

38

:

of deciding when you want to work.

39

:

I have found it really helpful.

40

:

To have three designated times.

41

:

Like related to my, my ideal week.

42

:

I like to have.

43

:

Designated times when I do work.

44

:

And that's when I have a babysitter,

I have a babysitter that comes

45

:

for about five hours a week.

46

:

Those are for sure.

47

:

Work times.

48

:

And then I like to have designated

times when I don't work.

49

:

'cause I used to feel like I just always.

50

:

Want it to be working and a little bit

for like, I always needed to be working.

51

:

So.

52

:

Every night.

53

:

As soon as my kids were in

bed, I wanted to be working.

54

:

Or even when I was with my kids,

I, my mind was racing about all

55

:

the things I wanted to do for work.

56

:

And I wanted to.

57

:

Uh, you know, I'd constantly be like

taking notes on my phone or try to pull

58

:

out my laptop and just always trying to.

59

:

Work work work.

60

:

And so it's really helpful for me

to have designated times when I

61

:

don't work, whether that's times I.

62

:

Really want to be focused on

my kids or that's times when.

63

:

I want to be doing

self-care things for myself.

64

:

So.

65

:

Running or reading or.

66

:

Doing puzzles or painting my nails

or doing things that are just like,

67

:

just designating times that you.

68

:

I do not work on your business.

69

:

And even if you've never done this before,

it can be a little bit uncomfortable,

70

:

but it's actually really powerful for me.

71

:

To have those times, because then when

I do work on my business, I'm way more.

72

:

Focused and have a plan and

a purpose for that time.

73

:

Instead of always working and

never really getting anything done.

74

:

So, yeah, I like to have times I'm.

75

:

Strictly working., I like to have

times I'm strictly not allowed to work.

76

:

And then I also like to have in

between times where it's like, I can

77

:

work if I want to, if I'm feeling

it, but if I'm not feeling it like.

78

:

I don't have to, or if there's

something else that feels more.

79

:

Depressing.

80

:

I could do that.

81

:

And like, of course I'm

in charge of my life.

82

:

I can always do something else.

83

:

If I'm.

84

:

Not feeling like working, but.

85

:

But I don't know.

86

:

It just helps my brain to have

those three separated times.

87

:

To make sure that it just helps me.

88

:

I

89

:

give my business the attention

that I want to give it.

90

:

And it helps me give my personal

and my family life, the attention

91

:

that I want to give that.

92

:

And then it also.

93

:

So for me, those in between times.

94

:

Are.

95

:

Typically nap time.

96

:

So I've kind of played around

with different things like

97

:

certain days of the week.

98

:

Nap times are.

99

:

I still have like work

things in planning to do.

100

:

But that is a little bit more

flexible for me as far as.

101

:

If I want to skip nap time that

day, or if my kids don't nap or

102

:

if I want to do housework, or if I

feel like I need a nap or whatever.

103

:

That's that's been helpful for me.

104

:

The other thing that.

105

:

And like, I know, five hours.

106

:

A week.

107

:

For like designated work time

may seem like a lot or a little,

108

:

depending on where you're at.

109

:

Just be realistic with yourself.

110

:

About how much time you can.

111

:

Can actually dedicate to

your business each week.

112

:

And one hour you can get

a lot done in one hour.

113

:

If it's a designated one hour.

114

:

Just, yeah, just be honest with yourself.

115

:

About how much time do you want to, to

be working on your business each week?

116

:

Okay.

117

:

And then the other thing about

deciding when you want to work

118

:

kind of related to last week is.

119

:

His work, something that you're okay

doing while your kids are awake or

120

:

you're while your kids are around.

121

:

Is that something you want to do while

they're with a babysitter or while

122

:

they're sleeping or while they're

doing quiet time or while they're.

123

:

Watching TV or something like that.

124

:

Just, just be really honest

with yourself about, are you

125

:

okay with doing it while you're.

126

:

Kids are around or would you prefer

doing it while they're not around?

127

:

That will help you designate when you

want to have your work days and times.

128

:

And then.

129

:

With that.

130

:

Also pay attention to your energy levels.

131

:

So.

132

:

Are you more of a morning

person and you, you, your brain

133

:

works better in the morning.

134

:

Or

135

:

like I like for me, I am a morning person.

136

:

But I actually want to use my morning.

137

:

Energy for running and for

spending time with my kids.

138

:

And so I work in the afternoons.

139

:

And my kids are with a babysitter then.

140

:

And it works great for us because

the reason I specifically chose

141

:

that time is because that's

witching hour and that's when.

142

:

Life feels the most stressful and

we're not really with friends.

143

:

And so.

144

:

Afternoon's we're feeling hard for me.

145

:

With caregiving.

146

:

And so that's when I decided to hire a

babysitter was to come in the afternoons.

147

:

So just pay attention to.

148

:

When you work best and when you,

when you want to work and if you

149

:

can make that work, as far as.

150

:

E like.

151

:

Okay.

152

:

Maybe you're a morning person, but

you really prefer to when you're work,

153

:

when your kids are asleep and you don't

want to hire childcare, K then evenings

154

:

might be your best bet or nap time.

155

:

That might be your best bet.

156

:

So.

157

:

Just just things to, to think about and

to pay attention to, as you're deciding.

158

:

How many hours a week you want to work?

159

:

And designate for working.

160

:

Then.

161

:

After you've chosen your designated

hours that you're going to work.

162

:

Then you can kind of set up your

ideal workweek that you'll, you'll

163

:

typically fall back on each week.

164

:

If you don't know how to spend

your time, you can look at your

165

:

ideal week that you planned out.

166

:

So.

167

:

Some things to keep in mind, as

you're planning out your ideal week of

168

:

things that you want to spend time on.

169

:

I.

170

:

Have five categories that

I like to think about.

171

:

One providing free value.

172

:

So for me, that currently looks like.

173

:

These podcast episodes.

174

:

And my Instagram content.

175

:

Where I teach through that content.

176

:

Too.

177

:

I like to create connections with people.

178

:

So that might look like creating

reels that attract new people.

179

:

Into my audience.

180

:

That might look like.

181

:

DM conversations, whether that's

like offering free coaching

182

:

on my Instagram stories or.

183

:

Often those conversations just come up.

184

:

Or like, I recently did one where I

said, can you like, tell me the number

185

:

one thing that's getting in the way from

you making a thousand dollars a month.

186

:

And then I put up a few poll options

and then whatever you selected.

187

:

Then I said, I'll, I'll DM you.

188

:

And we can talk about this and figure

out how to get over this hurdle.

189

:

So things like that.

190

:

So, yeah.

191

:

Provide for your value,

create conversations.

192

:

Number three.

193

:

I like to make sure I have

time for creating new offers.

194

:

I like to offer.

195

:

One mini offer at least once a month.

196

:

Whether that's a boxer

challenge or a guide or a.

197

:

Free workshop or a.

198

:

One-on-one call or something like that.

199

:

I like to make sure that I'm

staying up to date on offering

200

:

things that are serving people and

providing more value for people.

201

:

I know.

202

:

Amber Smith talks about, like, if you

want to make more money than you should

203

:

be providing more value for people.

204

:

And so that's worked really well for me.

205

:

It helps people trust me.

206

:

It helps people get into

my world and new ways.

207

:

It helps me.

208

:

Connect with new people in new ways.

209

:

It's yeah, I'm a huge

believer in mini offers.

210

:

So, , that's the third thing

I like to spend my time on.

211

:

And then number four, I like to

spend time marketing my offers.

212

:

So I usually do that

through Instagram stories.

213

:

Also Instagram posts, sometimes

through workshops or other like minute

214

:

using those mini offers to market.

215

:

Um, a different offer.

216

:

And also on my podcast.

217

:

So there are lots of different ways that.

218

:

I do market my offers, but that's

something that I like to spend time doing.

219

:

And then the fifth thing that I.

220

:

Make sure that I like to have time in

my schedule for is fulfilling any offer.

221

:

So whether that's like actual live

coaching calls or creating social

222

:

media content for people, or.

223

:

Creating trainings that people have.

224

:

Purchased or.

225

:

And holding those workshops that people

have signed up for things like that.

226

:

So like actually fulfilling offers.

227

:

Or kind of with that, like

with my one-on-one clients, I

228

:

offer unlimited Voxer coaching.

229

:

So serving them.

230

:

They're Voxer chatting on

there, things like that.

231

:

I like to brain dump all of the

tasks that I do in my business.

232

:

Or things that I want to

spend time on in my business.

233

:

This is again, just brain dump time.

234

:

. As I was planning out my ideal

schedule for this fall, here are some

235

:

of the things that I wrote down.

236

:

One-on-one coaching calls.

237

:

Uh, serenity workshop.

238

:

I'll be holding once a month.

239

:

Which is a new hybrid.

240

:

Program that I'm launching on

August 20th, where you get a

241

:

one-on-one call with me once a month.

242

:

And then you also.

243

:

Get to yeah.

244

:

Participate in these group

workshops once a month.

245

:

And then some more

things that I wrote down.

246

:

record podcasts, outlined

podcasts, edit podcasts.

247

:

Outline Instagram content.

248

:

Create Instagram content.

249

:

And if I wanted to get

more specific with that.

250

:

Like I create different.

251

:

Types of content.

252

:

So like creating content could mean.

253

:

Filming reels or editing reels

or creating graphics in Canva.

254

:

Like if I wanted to, I could get

really specific on those things.

255

:

I didn't hear, but, and also you

could get really specific on like

256

:

what type of content you're creating,

whether it's content that's meant

257

:

to attract new followers or content.

258

:

That's a mint.

259

:

Two.

260

:

Nurture your current audience

or content that's meant

261

:

too.

262

:

Sell things.

263

:

So, yeah, just.

264

:

Something to be aware of.

265

:

So some more things that I brain dumped

for things that I want to spend time on or

266

:

have time for in my business this season.

267

:

Um, posting to stories and

sometime well, In the past, I

268

:

haven't always like separated out

posting to stories and posting on.

269

:

Like my posts, like creating posts.

270

:

And so that's just something I want

to make sure that I have time for and

271

:

yeah, just be intentional about that.

272

:

I also want to.

273

:

Weekly plan.

274

:

And I also, while I leak weekly

plan, I like to spend some time.

275

:

Reflecting on the previous week and

expressing gratitude and staying in

276

:

that mindset of abundance and believing

that things are working in my business.

277

:

, Responding to Voxer messages

for my private clients.

278

:

I like being social on social media.

279

:

So like responding to comments,

that's something that I'm

280

:

hit or miss on with my posts.

281

:

Uh, responding to DMS on Instagram.

282

:

Writing emails.

283

:

So I'm just going to kind of

insert a little thought here.

284

:

So.

285

:

I created a guide a few months ago.

286

:

Uh, mom's guide to

building a simple business.

287

:

And I talk about how there

are so many more things that I

288

:

could be doing in my business.

289

:

But I intentionally choose not to,

because I don't want to spend any more

290

:

time on my business right now, or.

291

:

Effort or energy, like.

292

:

I just don't want to do

anything extra right now.

293

:

And so.

294

:

Writing emails has not been a

priority for me in the past.

295

:

I feel like it's something

I could pretty easily.

296

:

Do just like.

297

:

I'm already creating podcasts episodes.

298

:

I'm already creating content on Instagram.

299

:

And so I could easily.

300

:

Turn any of those into a quick email.

301

:

So it's something that I would.

302

:

Like to incorporate into my schedule, but.

303

:

I think I'm just trying to decide.

304

:

If and how I want that to look.

305

:

Also things that I want

to spend my time on are.

306

:

Planning trainings for the

serenity, that group program.

307

:

Recording trainings for the serenity

and editing trainings for the serenity.

308

:

So basically.

309

:

If you're part of the serenity, you'll

also get a access to a private podcast

310

:

where you'll get one training a month.

311

:

And so that's also going to be

something that I'm going to have to

312

:

incorporate in my, my weekly plan.

313

:

And then creating new offers.

314

:

I really.

315

:

I love.

316

:

Creating at least one new

mini offer each month.

317

:

To help serve you and to help.

318

:

Continue to serve you in new ways.

319

:

So.

320

:

I've already kind of done this for

myself, but if you haven't yet, After

321

:

you've brain dumped all the things that

you want to do, you could go through and

322

:

be really honest with yourself about.

323

:

What things are a priority for you

to spend time on this season and

324

:

what things you want to set aside

until the next season about every.

325

:

I would say three months or so, kind

of like beginning of this school year.

326

:

Beginning of the new

year, beginning of summer.

327

:

So maybe that's every four months.

328

:

I like to check in and see if

my schedule is working for me.

329

:

Change things up.

330

:

And if things aren't working earlier

than I'll change things earlier, but.

331

:

Basically set those, like write

those down in a specific place.

332

:

Those things that you want to

spend time on, but are not a good.

333

:

Fit for you during this

season and put them.

334

:

My kids are very wild today.

335

:

They're with a babysitter down stairs.

336

:

But they just keep screaming

and it's quite distracting.

337

:

So.

338

:

We will see if we can get

through this episode today.

339

:

But just kind of on that.

340

:

Yeah.

341

:

So just being honest with yourself.

342

:

If it's a good fit for this season.

343

:

So I mentioned.

344

:

Emails, one of those things I'm

kind of trying to decide on.

345

:

Some other things, my website, I.

346

:

Had a website up and

running and all the things.

347

:

And then.

348

:

I just.

349

:

Felt like so much work to keep

it up-to-date that I haven't.

350

:

Prioritized it, and it was also

kind of around the time I was

351

:

switching my business model and

figuring out what I was doing.

352

:

So.

353

:

I have not.

354

:

Kept my website.

355

:

Up-to-date.

356

:

And that's something I would

like to do in the near future.

357

:

And then also.

358

:

I want to redo my branding.

359

:

And that's also something that.

360

:

I'm kind of trying to decide.

361

:

When and how I want to do that.

362

:

A little plug for Rebecca Peterson.

363

:

She is a.

364

:

Brand designer and.

365

:

I would love to work with her.

366

:

Trying to figure out

when I want to do that.

367

:

So just bring dome all of the

things that you want to spend

368

:

your time on in your business.

369

:

And then be honest with yourself.

370

:

About what's realistic for

this season and what's not.

371

:

And, and you can also like

play with this as you start to

372

:

plug things into your schedule.

373

:

But then the next step is to.

374

:

After you've prioritized.

375

:

What's most important.

376

:

Then you can,

377

:

Group certain activities together.

378

:

So like, If you have like admin

work for your website or things like

379

:

that, I'll also something that I.

380

:

I didn't necessarily put on there,

but what also be part of like,

381

:

Yeah, I could've put on there

is like creating sales pages or.

382

:

Creating product pages for when

I'm selling certain things.

383

:

That's.

384

:

Another thing that like I

spend time on in my business.

385

:

So, yeah, you could have grouped

things into like admin work or

386

:

content creation or your podcast, or.

387

:

Live calls with people or.

388

:

Planning trainings or creating offers?

389

:

I don't know, like just group certain.

390

:

Tasks together.

391

:

Is the next step.

392

:

And then also with that, I think

just noting which tasks are.

393

:

Best at certain times, like,

394

:

Planning a training.

395

:

Or planning a podcast like that.

396

:

Deep work thinking that probably

takes my highest brainpower.

397

:

So I'm going to want to

do those types of things.

398

:

Either earlier in the week or.

399

:

As early in the day as possible.

400

:

Coaching calls.

401

:

Those are a lot easier for me.

402

:

To like.

403

:

They still take deep work and

deep thinking, but because they

404

:

have somebody to, to work with and

talk with, it's not as much just

405

:

like digging deep and focusing.

406

:

So that's something I could do.

407

:

At a more flexible time of day,

but I also like I want live

408

:

call or live coaching call.

409

:

I really want my kids I want to have

them with a reliable babysitter.

410

:

I would prefer not to

do it when they could.

411

:

B.

412

:

Coming in or things like that, which

isn't the end of the world either, but

413

:

just, just something that I prefer.

414

:

So make note of those things too.

415

:

Group, the tasks together, and then note.

416

:

What time of day or what.

417

:

Time of the week is best

for those tasks to be done.

418

:

So you've got your brain dump.

419

:

You've got all your tasks.

420

:

You've.

421

:

Prioritized which tasks

are most important.

422

:

You've noted which tasks.

423

:

Take more brain energy, or also, you

could note with that, like which tasks.

424

:

It needs to be quiet.

425

:

Like you prefer a quiet background or you

need to be quiet because people in your

426

:

house or sleeping or things like that,

427

:

and you've set aside, which tasks

are not realistic during this season.

428

:

Then.

429

:

You can.

430

:

Note which tasks follow a weekly

431

:

schedule like things that

you'll do every week.

432

:

So for me.

433

:

Outlining content.

434

:

Creating content for Instagram.

435

:

Outlining a podcast, recording

a podcast, editing a podcast.

436

:

Those are things that I do every week.

437

:

So you can even just note, like

which tasks are daily, weekly.

438

:

Monthly or just occasionally or one time.

439

:

So, no.

440

:

How frequent each task

441

:

needs to be done or

you want it to be done.

442

:

And then I would go through and just

be really honest with yourself with,

443

:

about how long you want for each task.

444

:

And this is something that's.

445

:

Really key because.

446

:

Hate the first time I like

made my ideal schedule.

447

:

I was.

448

:

Trying to do a ridiculous amount of

things in a very short period of time.

449

:

And I couldn't figure out why it

could never get anything done, but

450

:

I wasn't being honest with how long.

451

:

Things were going to take.

452

:

If I'm putting out a.

453

:

40 minute podcast.

454

:

I can't expect it to take only 40

minutes to outline, record and edit

455

:

the podcast if that makes sense.

456

:

So just things like that, be honest

with your time, but also I've also

457

:

found like, However much time I

give myself that's how much time

458

:

it's going to take to do something.

459

:

So if I give myself.

460

:

An hour to create one post.

461

:

I will take an hour creating one post.

462

:

If I give myself.

463

:

10 minutes to create one post.

464

:

I will create a post in 10 minutes.

465

:

So, so just finding that

balance of being honest with

466

:

how long things take, but also.

467

:

Practicing.

468

:

Being imperfect in your work.

469

:

Offering things that are not perfect.

470

:

Selling guides that aren't perfect.

471

:

Putting out podcast episodes

that aren't perfect.

472

:

Things like that.

473

:

It, I feel like that's been a huge

thing for me for actually moving

474

:

the needle in my business is.

475

:

Lowering my standard for the

type of work that I put out,

476

:

which is probably not like what.

477

:

Somebody would, should tell you

like what I should tell you to do,

478

:

but I think glowing lowering your

standard can actually help you.

479

:

Move the needle in your business more.

480

:

Okay.

481

:

So once you have the time of about

how much time each task might take.

482

:

You have them grouped together.

483

:

You haven't prioritized.

484

:

All the things, then you can start

plugging them in your schedule.

485

:

So I made a custom business bullet

journal with Krista Kirkham and

486

:

each month she has set up for me

a place to plan out my ideal week.

487

:

And so.

488

:

I like to write in.

489

:

The hours that I have dedicated for work.

490

:

And just kind of shade those in.

491

:

And then I, and I like to have

the times where I'm like, this is

492

:

like my like focused work time.

493

:

This is my.

494

:

Flexible work time.

495

:

And then this is my like, not work time.

496

:

I like to have that written in there.

497

:

And then, then I can

start plugging tasks in.

498

:

So I like to spend one hour each week.

499

:

Outlining.

500

:

Content for my Instagram.

501

:

And so like, Specifically.

502

:

Writing down exactly what the post

is going to say so that I don't

503

:

have to spend an hour searching

for a good audio or searching for

504

:

a good hook or trying to figure out

how I can make it apply to my knit.

505

:

Like.

506

:

I just spend one hour a week.

507

:

Saying a prayer asking God to help me.

508

:

What I should share with

my audience that week.

509

:

And then.

510

:

Writing it all out.

511

:

So then day by day when I create

the content, it's so fast because

512

:

I've already written it out.

513

:

So I've decided to that on.

514

:

Mondays, because that also takes quite

a bit of brain power for me to decide

515

:

what I want to say., And I'd like to

do that at the beginning of my week.

516

:

So it's all ready to go.

517

:

So Monday's.

518

:

While my kids.

519

:

Our napping is my current plan

for what I'm going to do that.

520

:

And then.

521

:

I've also planned to do.

522

:

Everything with my podcast on Wednesdays

because episodes release on Wednesdays.

523

:

And so the week prior I'll plan to.

524

:

Outline the podcast, record the

podcast, edit the podcast and

525

:

get it all up, uploaded and ready

to go for the following week.

526

:

I like to do it on a week by week basis.

527

:

I know some people like to

batch their podcast and like,

528

:

The record a bunch at once.

529

:

Aye.

530

:

That has never worked for me.

531

:

Same with like batching.

532

:

Creating social media content.

533

:

Like I guess I batch outline,

but I don't like to batch create

534

:

for most things anyways.

535

:

And then I've also decided.

536

:

On Wednesdays because I'll have

nap time and I'll have one of my

537

:

babysitters here on Wednesdays.

538

:

So that's also when I'm planning to.

539

:

Do something related to the

monthly training for the serenity.

540

:

So either.

541

:

Plan out the training actually record

the training or edit the training.

542

:

I'll do that on Wednesdays as

well., so that's like my podcast.

543

:

Day, both.

544

:

My public podcast and

then the private podcast.

545

:

And then

546

:

the other thing that I've plugged

in here that I want to make sure to

547

:

do at the same time every week is.

548

:

Weekly plan and.

549

:

=Reflect.

550

:

Take time to reflect and express

gratitude and just kind of journal

551

:

about how the, how the week went.

552

:

And that's something that Krista

helped me incorporate in my.

553

:

Bullet journal as a place to do that.

554

:

Like two weeks to reflect and

express gratitude each week

555

:

So with that, I kind of left a lot

of open space in my ideal schedule.

556

:

For this fall currently, I may find

a rhythm and a system that works and

557

:

plug more things in, but I just wanted

to say like, you don't have to have

558

:

every minute of every day planned out.

559

:

If that doesn't work for you.

560

:

For me.

561

:

I like to have a F those really only those

three things are like in place right now.

562

:

When I'm going to outline content

when I'm gonna do my podcast and

563

:

when I'm going to weekly plan.

564

:

Because I, I actually

prefer doing a lot of

565

:

my planning for the week on a week

by week basis., for a few reasons.

566

:

So.

567

:

I like to keep all of my.

568

:

Times when my babysitter's here.

569

:

Open for people to sign

up for coaching calls.

570

:

Whether that's my one-on-one

clients or that's.

571

:

Sometimes I'll do.

572

:

Free calls here and there or.

573

:

Things like that.

574

:

I like to leave space for

people to sign up for things.

575

:

So if somebody signs up for a time on.

576

:

Let's say Monday afternoon

when my babysitter's here.

577

:

Then I'll plan to do more of

my work on Friday afternoon.

578

:

So just like, I know some people

579

:

only designate like a certain

number of hours per week.

580

:

For coaching calls and then

they have other days designated

581

:

for doing other work.

582

:

I like to just keep all of them open

that's what's worked well for me.

583

:

So then I'm going to kind of get

into the third part of this episode.

584

:

And that's.

585

:

Actually planning on a week by week basis.

586

:

Let me make sure that I

didn't miss anything for the

587

:

planning, your ideal week.

588

:

One sec.

589

:

A few more notes on planning

out your ideal week.

590

:

If you're feeling burnt out in your

business or your find that you're

591

:

kind of dreading doing your work.

592

:

I would.

593

:

Plan more days off and designate

more times not to work.

594

:

And then cut out any fluff that

you're doing in your business

595

:

that you're spending your time on.

596

:

And so for me, anything that

I don't love doing, that's

597

:

not totally filling me up and.

598

:

Filling my soul.

599

:

I'll find a way to eliminate that.

600

:

Or.

601

:

Hired out.

602

:

Or.

603

:

Just stop doing it.

604

:

Or make it less.

605

:

do it less or if you're

doing anything that's.

606

:

Not making you money.

607

:

Then don't spend time on that so that

you have more time to just focus on

608

:

yourself as a person or those things in

your business that you do want to do.

609

:

And generally speaking, I,

I believe less is better.

610

:

Simpler is better.

611

:

There are probably a lot of

things that you might be spending

612

:

time on your business that you

really don't need to be doing.

613

:

It's better to just focus your.

614

:

Your time and your energy on

a few things and trying to.

615

:

Be everywhere or do everything

or learn everything.

616

:

Okay.

617

:

Let's getting to the

actual, weekly planning.

618

:

So.

619

:

Each week I like to choose a focus.

620

:

Like what is my main purpose this week?

621

:

Is it two.

622

:

Promote a certain mini offer.

623

:

Is it too?

624

:

Establish my expertise in a certain area.

625

:

Is it too?

626

:

Create connections with people.

627

:

And like I said, like, You're

probably doing these things.

628

:

Kind of all the time, like they

all interact with each other,

629

:

but I just like to choose.

630

:

A a focus for that week.

631

:

And then.

632

:

I like to write out all the things

that I want to get done that week, that

633

:

aren't already in my ideal schedule.

634

:

. I like to look at my ideal schedule.

635

:

See if it works that week.

636

:

For example, I'm planning to do.

637

:

Everything related to my

podcast on Wednesdays.

638

:

If I realize my babysitter is going

to be gone on this Wednesday, can I

639

:

need to pick a new day to do that?

640

:

Cause that's not going to work.

641

:

Then.

642

:

Right out all of the things that I.

643

:

Want to do that week.

644

:

The more specific, the better.

645

:

So like, if I just say

like create content.

646

:

Okay.

647

:

What does that actually mean?

648

:

I create a post about.

649

:

Yada, yada, yada, create

a post about Yetta.

650

:

Yeah.

651

:

Post on my stories.

652

:

To promote yada yada.

653

:

Like.

654

:

The more specific, the better, or like

respond to these specific people about.

655

:

The specific thing.

656

:

, you can go a little crazy with this and

you can play with what works for you.

657

:

But when in doubt, get more

specific because I have found that.

658

:

If I have my work time and

I go to work and it says,

659

:

Create a mini offer.

660

:

I'm like, how do I do that?

661

:

Like, what does that even mean?

662

:

But I, if I have really specifically

on my to-do list for that

663

:

week, brainstorm specific pain

points that my audience is having.

664

:

That's a lot easier for my brain

to be like, oh yeah, I can do that.

665

:

Things like that.

666

:

And then, so.

667

:

Yeah, I'll just say this as your like,

brain dumping your tasks for the week.

668

:

Break them down into.

669

:

Smaller tasks.

670

:

Especially, . On that weekly level

or also on that daily level, if you

671

:

get to the beginning of your day and

you're like, this feels overwhelming.

672

:

Break it down.

673

:

So then once you have all of your

tasks for the week, I like to choose.

674

:

A couple non-negotiables.

675

:

Because in an ideal world,

I would get them all done.

676

:

That's not always realistic.

677

:

And so I just like to plug in okay.

678

:

Like, When in doubt, if I get this

done, I am successful this week.

679

:

I have done what I needed

to do in my business.

680

:

And so.

681

:

After I've.

682

:

Establishment non-negotiables and

I've written down all the little mini

683

:

tasks that I want to do for that week.

684

:

Then I'd like to plug

them into my schedule.

685

:

So it'll say like, Okay, I'll do this.

686

:

During nap time on Tuesday, all the,

this while my babysitter's here on.

687

:

Friday, I'll do this every evening.

688

:

You know, I like to

respond to Voxer messages.

689

:

Most evening.

690

:

So I'll do that.

691

:

Each evening after my kids go to bed,

things like that, just like plug in

692

:

when you're going to do specific tasks.

693

:

I've done different things with this,

but., just making sure that you have the

694

:

space for the things that you want to do.

695

:

And then.

696

:

Also being okay.

697

:

If you don't get things done.

698

:

And I said this earlier, but like

establishing times that you don't work.

699

:

I think it's really healthy to

have a deadline for the evening.

700

:

Like K if I haven't.

701

:

Gotten what I wanted to done

by 10 o'clock, then I'm done.

702

:

Or even if I have things to do, and

it's Tuesday night when I said I wasn't

703

:

going to work, I'm not going to work.

704

:

And of course you're in charge.

705

:

You get to choose, but just.

706

:

, being okay with not getting

everything done in your business.

707

:

But I do feel like the more intentionally

am with designated work times and.

708

:

Getting really specific about which

tasks I'm going to do when, and

709

:

being honest with myself about how

long those tasks are going to take.

710

:

That's helped me too.

711

:

Plan my work week out.

712

:

In a better way.

713

:

Okay.

714

:

I feel like this was kind of a lot.

715

:

As a recap, we talked about.

716

:

How to.

717

:

Side when you're going to work.

718

:

Designating.

719

:

Work hours and designating non-work hours.

720

:

And then also.

721

:

How to plan out your ideal workweek

with the, especially with those tasks or

722

:

types of tasks that repeat every week.

723

:

And you want to make sure that

you have time for and prioritize.

724

:

And then.

725

:

Planning your week on a,

on a week to week basis.

726

:

Please reach out.

727

:

If you have any questions on

how I do this or what this looks

728

:

like, or, if I missed anything.

729

:

Feel free to reach out.

730

:

I've gotten quite a bit of feedback about

last week's episode that you do, like

731

:

this kind of content that you like, the.

732

:

The planning and how I plan

my week and things like that.

733

:

So,

734

:

I will plan to.

735

:

Occasionally create episodes like this

that are more about like, Planning

736

:

and scheduling and organizing and

prioritizing and things like that.

737

:

But if you're in the camp that

this stuff is kind of boring to you

738

:

again, this is my invitation to you.

739

:

Feel free to reach out and

be like, Not my favorite.

740

:

I like when you talk about.

741

:

This episode or whatever, just share.

742

:

What, what kind of content you do?

743

:

Like that's more helpful for you?

744

:

Because.

745

:

Whatever feedback I get.

746

:

That's what I'm going to lean

into is creating content that

747

:

actually helps you and serves you.
