Speaker:

I've coached nearly 100 women about their screen time,

2

:

and here's what I've learned.

3

:

Women actually don't care about their

screen time, they care about those things

4

:

that are impacted by their screen time.

5

:

Their ability to be patient with their

kids, the growth of their business,

6

:

having time to pursue their creative

dreams, their relationship with their

7

:

husband, the inner peace that they feel,

their confidence in themselves, their

8

:

Connection with God, their friendships

not missing out on their kids' childhoods.

9

:

I'm Alex and I'm here to

help you find inner peace.

10

:

Enjoy true fulfillment

and be fully present.

11

:

Welcome to the Mindful with Media Podcast.

12

:

It has been a hot minute since I

have recorded a podcast episode.

13

:

And there are a few reasons why.

14

:

Aye.

15

:

Usually just work from home.

16

:

And then my babysitter

comes to my house and then.

17

:

Sometimes it takes the kids places, but.

18

:

At least some of the time they're

at my house and my daughter.

19

:

Husband's struggling this last week with.

20

:

Sleep.

21

:

She's constantly been claiming

out of her crib and she's just

22

:

recently learned how to open doors.

23

:

And so that's just added a whole new.

24

:

Game that.

25

:

My oldest, my son, he is.

26

:

Three and a half.

27

:

And he started sleeping through the night.

28

:

About a month ago for the first time ever.

29

:

And so he's had challenges in different

ways, but he, even though he has

30

:

known how to climb out of his crib,

he's in a toddler bed now, but he.

31

:

Just never did.

32

:

Like, he just didn't

climb out of his crib.

33

:

And so this is a whole

new playing field anyways.

34

:

She's been super tired and.

35

:

Last time when I was trying to work.

36

:

At home and the babysitter came.

37

:

She was having a really hard

time with me being there.

38

:

And so my sweet friend and neighbor

offered to let me come work at her

39

:

house and see if that goes better.

40

:

So.

41

:

We will see when I get back home, how, how

that went, if that was helpful for her,

42

:

or if it's something else that she needs.

43

:

So.

44

:

About once a month.

45

:

I like to do well, actually.

46

:

That's not true.

47

:

I would like to once a month do kind of

more of a personal podcast episode that's

48

:

yeah, just a little bit more about maybe

what's going on in my personal life or.

49

:

Behind the scenes things and my

business, or just things like that.

50

:

And so I had planned to do a personal.

51

:

Life update type episode.

52

:

Whenever the last episode was

supposed to come out, I think it was

53

:

like three weeks ago or something.

54

:

Maybe for anyways.

55

:

And.

56

:

I was about to record that episode.

57

:

To give an update on.

58

:

Our personal life, but there were

so many things up in the air.

59

:

About.

60

:

My husband's work situation and

kind of what was next for us that.

61

:

I ended up.

62

:

Like waiting to record it.

63

:

And then I'm really glad that I

waited because we found out that.

64

:

Legally, we are not supposed to

share very much about that situation.

65

:

So.

66

:

I do want to give, share what

I can about what's going on.

67

:

Many of, you know, About my

husband's health situation.

68

:

If you don't know, you can go back

and look for any episode related to.

69

:

Seizures or a peek into my personal

life or personal life update.

70

:

There are a few of those, and those

will give you more background about.

71

:

What's been going on with that.

72

:

But David went update.

73

:

He is not working full-time anymore.

74

:

, and he's done with the

company that he was at.

75

:

He'll just be.

76

:

Working part time.

77

:

Potentially forever, potentially

just for a short time.

78

:

We're not really sure.

79

:

What that's going to be looking like.

80

:

He.

81

:

Has not had a grand mal

seizure since August.

82

:

So that's been really nice.

83

:

He still has about one.

84

:

We call them mini seizures,

but there are these.

85

:

What are they called?

86

:

Focal impaired awareness seizures.

87

:

He still has about one of those a day.

88

:

Generally speaking

though, I feel like his.

89

:

His health seems to be improving.

90

:

He's not quite as.

91

:

Bedridden, so to speak as.

92

:

He has been in the past months,

which has been so, so fun.

93

:

We went on a real life date.

94

:

Last week and we're going to go on another

one tonight and it, it feels so exciting

95

:

to actually have him spend time with us.

96

:

And then that's also partially

possible because well, yesterday

97

:

was the last day of work.

98

:

So.

99

:

That will be.

100

:

A little bit more possible

because he's not spending.

101

:

You know, 45 hours a week.

102

:

Working, he will hopefully have a little

bit more time for somewhat of a normal

103

:

life instead of just working and sleeping.

104

:

He has some more testing.

105

:

Next week he'll do a neuro

psych evaluation and then.

106

:

He's also got an MRI

sometime in the next month.

107

:

And then.

108

:

I believe it's November 15th.

109

:

The there's a conference where.

110

:

All the neuro people.

111

:

We'll meet together.

112

:

You know, the neurosurgeon, , his

neurologist, who is actually an

113

:

epileptologist specializes in seizures.

114

:

And.

115

:

The neuropsychiatric list, basically

anyone who has anything to do with

116

:

the brain we'll meet together and

look at all of the data from all

117

:

the testing that he's been doing.

118

:

And make her economic

recommendation about what is next.

119

:

For him and that's most

likely a brain surgery.

120

:

Here's what they're looking at.

121

:

They're just looking at what

type of brain surgery it is.

122

:

I think I've shared in the past,

like some of the different options.

123

:

Yeah.

124

:

So that's kind of where things are at.

125

:

We should know by December,

what will be happening with.

126

:

The surgery or if they

need to do more testing.

127

:

Before they, you know, Cut out part

of his brain or put a chip in his

128

:

brain or something invasive like that.

129

:

And we're so grateful.

130

:

We have, he has a fabulous

health team that we.

131

:

Just trust on such a deep level, which

we haven't always had in the past.

132

:

So that's been really nice to have.

133

:

Such great doctors who.

134

:

Are so specialized in.

135

:

Mats.

136

:

Experience.

137

:

It's been so interesting.

138

:

I think a lot of people kind of hear

what's happening in our lives and.

139

:

Feel bad or sorry, or I don't know.

140

:

Maybe they don't know what to feel.

141

:

And it's been so interesting

because I feel like the last six

142

:

months, honestly, there have been.

143

:

Really hard things.

144

:

And I, as I've shared before,

Tears and fear and exhaustion

145

:

and just some really hard parts.

146

:

And I feel like we.

147

:

We kind of are like, Coming out of

that dark part and just, it just

148

:

feels like there's so much light.

149

:

And hope and.

150

:

And joy and gratitude for

where we're at right now.

151

:

And even like, that's kind of our family

as a whole, but even personally, It's

152

:

been really cool to look back at the

beginning of this year and see some of

153

:

the visions that I had of what I wanted.

154

:

And one of the things

that I wanted was a baby.

155

:

And that has not been our reality.

156

:

The month we were

planning to start trying.

157

:

Was the same month that

Matt had a seizure.

158

:

And so that was confusing and really hard.

159

:

Initially.

160

:

And.

161

:

It's been.

162

:

Yeah, I think that's

something that I still.

163

:

Would wan and it's been

really cool to see.

164

:

How I've.

165

:

Grown and changed and progressed

in, in other ways, separate from

166

:

adding another child to our family.

167

:

And.

168

:

Shout out to my friend, Kayla.

169

:

She, and I were talking.

170

:

I don't know, a month ago, maybe.

171

:

And she was sharing some things that.

172

:

Inspired me.

173

:

Two.

174

:

Sign up for a marathon.

175

:

And I've always said, like, once

I'm done having kids, then I will.

176

:

I want to run the Boston marathon.

177

:

And if you're not in

the running world, like.

178

:

The Boston marathon you

have to qualify for.

179

:

And the times are.

180

:

Pretty fast too.

181

:

Hello to qualify for Boston, but that's

just always something I've dreamed of.

182

:

Doing.

183

:

And.

184

:

I think she might've said

like, well, why, why not now?

185

:

Like, why do you need to wait

until you didn't having kids?

186

:

And.

187

:

You know, can I make up

all these excuses of a lot?

188

:

I don't know.

189

:

I don't know.

190

:

I don't know.

191

:

And I still.

192

:

Still don't know, like for

Boston specifically, but I did

193

:

after that conversation, sign

up for the Ogden marathon.

194

:

In may, which feels so fun to be able to.

195

:

Be training for something.

196

:

I did a half marathon last fall.

197

:

But the problem with half-marathons

is I've had enough running

198

:

experience that I know I can.

199

:

Run the half marathon without.

200

:

Training.

201

:

Like, I, I would.

202

:

It's better if I train,

but I would be fine.

203

:

And so it's not quite motivating enough

to like, get me out the door to train.

204

:

But I knew, I know a marathon

I've only done one before.

205

:

I know a marathon.

206

:

I need to train.

207

:

So.

208

:

Yeah, I guess.

209

:

Okay.

210

:

I don't I'm.

211

:

I love.

212

:

Okay.

213

:

I'm like going on all of these tangents

and that's what I want these personal

214

:

episodes to be is just a little bit more.

215

:

Chatty and random.

216

:

So.

217

:

Where was I going with this?

218

:

So I.

219

:

Sign up for a marathon

that feels really good.

220

:

Kind of more context on like

my running and fitness journey.

221

:

So.

222

:

I met with coach Carrie.

223

:

She's like a running

and fitness life coach.

224

:

I can't remember when it was,

but towards the beginning of the

225

:

year, Just about like, just trying

to figure out running where.

226

:

And through that call, I realized like

I'm ready to run more intensely than I

227

:

have been, but I'm such a social runner.

228

:

And so I was having a hard time.

229

:

Finding my running people.

230

:

And there were all these obstacles

getting in the way anyways.

231

:

I found my running people and,

and it's a few different people.

232

:

And so I trail run once a week and

then I run with a neighbor around

233

:

my house, like near my neighborhood

in my neighborhood once a week.

234

:

And then I've been doing.

235

:

Twice a week.

236

:

With someone I met through a Facebook

group, shout out to Brittany.

237

:

This is new as of like maybe a month ago.

238

:

And.

239

:

She pushes me to be a little faster

and she even helps me do speed work.

240

:

And even this morning, like, as

we were doing some speed work.

241

:

I realized I was going at Boston pace.

242

:

And so I was like, Whoa, this,

this could be a possibility too.

243

:

Qualify for Boston.

244

:

And it's just cool.

245

:

When you envision something.

246

:

And then you take.

247

:

Aligned action.

248

:

How then that becomes your reality.

249

:

And it's really cool to look back

and see that happening and kind

250

:

of being in the middle of that.

251

:

Becoming someone new and, and.

252

:

Achieving things it's really fun.

253

:

And then also just within.

254

:

My business.

255

:

Looking back at my business.

256

:

I don't know.

257

:

I I'm.

258

:

Yeah.

259

:

If you've been around here, you

know, I don't really know how I

260

:

feel about goal specifically, but my

business intentions and dreams I have.

261

:

Far surpassed them.

262

:

And it's, it's wild to me that.

263

:

I am where I am with my

business and even things like.

264

:

I've always dreamed of working

with Kaylin priest one-on-one

265

:

and that happened this year.

266

:

And then I've always dreamed of.

267

:

Doing a rebrand rebrand with Rebecca

Peterson and that's starting to happen.

268

:

And.

269

:

I've always dreamed of working with Amber

Smith and I'm in a group program with her.

270

:

And.

271

:

Looking into a one-on-one option with her.

272

:

And just all these things that

I thought were like way far

273

:

off dreams are like happening.

274

:

And it just it's wild

that I'm to this place.

275

:

And so that just feels

really fun and exciting.

276

:

And kind of along those same lines.

277

:

Aye.

278

:

I'm seeing why things happen

the way that they did.

279

:

You know, when I first had this little

seed of an idea to start posting online

280

:

about being intentional with screens all

first off, I was scared out of my mind.

281

:

And put it off for six months,

but the idea would not leave me.

282

:

So finally I took action and did that.

283

:

And then I just have had like, Increased.

284

:

Nudges and sometimes a lot stronger than

nudges of like, you got to do this, you've

285

:

got to take action and move forward.

286

:

And it's really, really,

really cool to like, Look back.

287

:

At those times when I was so scared or.

288

:

It didn't make sense, like why I felt

so strongly to do my own business when.

289

:

I, I had all these other.

290

:

Things like I could be working for other

people or I, you know, I had these kind

291

:

of like side jobs I was doing or just

different ways I thought about sending

292

:

my time, but I just felt so strongly.

293

:

Like you need to do this business

and you need to monetize it.

294

:

And so I Le I leaned into that and

I figured it out and I I've done it.

295

:

And now with all of mats health

stuff, kind of coming out of the blue.

296

:

It's really cool to look back and

just feel so grateful that God.

297

:

Was directing us the whole time.

298

:

Like he knew.

299

:

That.

300

:

It would be ideal for us, for

me to have my own business.

301

:

So I've just been feeling really grateful.

302

:

To be where we're at and to see.

303

:

Why things happen the way they did.

304

:

So if you're in a season of your

life or your business, where.

305

:

You're having nudges and you're

not sure why, or, and it could be

306

:

to stop your business, you know?

307

:

It's not necessarily the same nudges

that I had, but just, just to encourage

308

:

you to, to follow those and lean

into those, even if it feels scary.

309

:

And also with that, you know, like I said,

like, I felt like I needed to make money.

310

:

It was really important for me to

let go of the timeline on that.

311

:

That.

312

:

You know, I think initially when

they had that desire, like I just

313

:

wanted to make it happen right away.

314

:

And then when it didn't

happen right away, I felt.

315

:

Dumb and just, it was really hard.

316

:

And so then I was like, well, I don't

care about making money anymore.

317

:

Then I would lean back into that and

then I would get the nudge again.

318

:

And so I'd become really

attached to making money, but.

319

:

It's possible to want to make money.

320

:

Without being so.

321

:

Desperate to make money.

322

:

And your business.

323

:

And so if you can find that

way of wanting and working and.

324

:

Moving towards.

325

:

That without being so.

326

:

Attached to that.

327

:

That was the sweet spot for me.

328

:

And I'm, I'm leaning into that sweet spot.

329

:

Now and forever.

330

:

And kind of on that

note, I have started a.

331

:

Private podcast.

332

:

It's called the mindset momentum.

333

:

And it's a daily podcast.

334

:

Well, every weekday.

335

:

It's only like five minutes

and it's like a meditation.

336

:

Or training.

337

:

To help you get in the right head

space about your business so you

338

:

can actually make consistent money.

339

:

And.

340

:

I'll make sure to link in the show notes.

341

:

Technically the presale ended

yesterday, but because you're listening

342

:

to this, I'll include the presale.

343

:

So you can join it only $10 a

month instead of $31 a month.

344

:

And you can cancel anytime.

345

:

So like if you signed up today and

you canceled today, you'll still

346

:

get access for the first month.

347

:

And then.

348

:

You wouldn't after that,

if that makes sense.

349

:

So, yeah, I'll include the link to that.

350

:

And.

351

:

I think, I think that's it for today.

352

:

Oh, I guess also just, I don't know, big

things are happening and they business.

353

:

It's a big changes are, are coming.

354

:

I've felt some really strong poles.

355

:

About changes that I want

to make in my business.

356

:

And I feel like now is

the right time for that.

357

:

So watch out for some,

some big things happening.

358

:

And I'm just so grateful

that you're here and.

359

:

Aye.

360

:

Yeah, grateful that you would listen.

361

:

We'll talk to you later.
